Shantel Sibanda

Shantel Sibanda is a 24 year old painter based in North London. Shantel graduated in BA Fine Art in 2019 and she was shortlisted for the Artiq Graduate Art Prize in 2019. She sold her first work on the night.

Shantel's work confronts and comments on the Miseducation of Black Women within society, in the form of modern paintings.

Being of Zimbabwean and Jamaican descent, Shantel who was born in the UK, has always been inspired by the black feminine identity within Western cultures. Interested in music, social media and of course Fine Art, Sibanda confronts and comments on the Miseducation of Black Women within society, in the form of modern paintings.

She adopts traditional painting techniques with her own individual style to create works of art that question the the Black Female Gaze. 

Shantel has also worked with and sold a commission piece to reality television star Joseline Hernandez
